Cardio Equipment
At Lansing Fitness Center you can find a variety of cardio equipment to meet your needs and give you variety in your cardiovascular training. We have 4 treadmills, 3 ellipticals, an upright stationary bike, 2 recumbent bikes, rowing machine, and a step machine.

Weight machines
We have a wide variety of pin-loaded weight machines to work every muscle in your body and give you a total body strength conditioning workout.
Weight machines are beneficial if you are looking to isolate muscle groups. Many single-joint exercises such as biceps curls, triceps extension, leg curls and leg extensions are performed using machines. Machines are recommended for newcomers because they decrease the time needed to learn
proper mechanics. The movements of machines are per-determined, which alleviates the guesswork on behalf of the user. Unlike free weights, safety is an advantage of weight machines as no partner is needed to assist or prevent a mishap. Finally, the ease of increasing or decreasing resistance is greater with machine weights, which require simple changing the pin insertion.

In addition to our pin-loaded weight machines we offer free weights to challenge you even further and give you more variety. We have dumbbells that range from 5-100 lbs, a Smith machine, and several benches.
Constant resistance throughout the range of motion of an exercise is an advantage of training with free weights. This is known as dynamic constant external resistance. Free weights also tend to incorporate more muscles in the execution of the moves. Because they are free of constraints offered by cables or machines, the muscles can contract through a more complete ROM with assistance from other stabilizing muscle groups. In essence, a seated overhead press with dumbbells, although targeting the shoulder muscles, will solicit help from smaller muscle group, thus, working more muscles at one time. Free weights are also more functional, meaning they simulate more daily or athletic movements.

TRX is the latest and greatest in suspension training. TRX training utilizes and strengthens your core with every exercise, while giving you a total body workout. You can use the TRX on your own, in a personal training session, or come to one of our TRX group classes!
