A Little About Your fitness center

My name is Maryann Baldwin and I am the owner of the Lansing Fitness Center (September 2017).  I am passionate about bringing activity and fitness to our community, and helping all of us live a healthier and happier life!  The fitness center is the beginning of what I'm calling my second act in life as I will be retiring from my first career in media, entertainment and research at the end of 2017.  My goal is to help everyone in our community discover the many opportunities we have in our community for activity and fitness in order to live a healthier and active lifestyle and learn how much fun fitness can be!  I have several certification trainings I'm pursuing so I can also assist you in pursuing and achieving your fitness goals.

A little bit about me:  I started spending time in the Driftless Area in 2002 and became a full time resident here in 2013. My husband Paul, our black lab Gracie, and I love everything our region has to offer and regularly take advantage of outdoor activities on land and on the river.  

My fitness journey started in the early 2000's when I agreed to run a 5k with a friend who was training for a half marathon.  She had to bow out with a knee injury, but I went ahead and ran anyway. I was hooked!  Then in 2009 I decided to try to run a race every month, year round.  101 months later, I still run in some kind of 5K, 5 mile (and even a couple of half marathons) or other race each and every month.  I also more recently started doing more strength and body weight cardio exercises, mostly by going to Jessa Kelleher's classes her at the fitness center.  One thing I've learned is how important it is to vary your focus and not to go all in on any one kind of fitness activity.
